Residential solar in Connecticut gets new push

In New Haven, Conn., the state’s quasi-public agency charged with financing and developing investments in renewable energy projects has a new program designed to promote installation of additional residential solar energy projects, according to Luther Turmelle at the New Haven Register.

“The Clean Energy Finance and Investment Authority’s “Race to the Rooftop” program is providing $10 million in subsidies or incentives to help add another 5.6 megawatts of new solar systems around the state. That’s enough energy to power 5,600 homes, said Mike Trahan, executive director of Solar Connecticut, a Haddam-based trade group. […] The program isn’t being greeted as warmly by some solar industry representatives in the state. Chris Lenda, president and founder of Aegis Solar Energy in Branford, said the new program “seems like they’re taking what we already know and putting a new name on it” and it has done little to reduce uncertainty in the solar installation community.”
